What treatments are offered at the Pelvic and Sexual Health Institute?
Urinary Incontinence A condition in which involuntary loss of urine is a social or hygenic problem. Incontinence may be classified by type, e.g. stress, urge, reflex or overflow incontinence.
Urinary Tract Infections An infection anywhere in the urinary system, including kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra. Untreated bladder infections can sometimes travel up into the kidneys and cause severe, even life-threatening infections.
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD) there are two types of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD); low-tone PFD and high-tone PFD. Low-tone PFD refers to an inability to isolate and contract the pelvic floor musculature in the presence of weak or atrophic musculature, frequently resulting in impairment of muscle isolation, contraction and relaxation. Some resultant manifestations include, voiding dysfunction, urinary frequency, urgency and pelvic pain.

  The main objectives of the Pelvic and Sexual Health Institute are to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to and state-of-the-art education, treatment and research for all individuals with pelvic floor disorders. The Pelvic and Sexual Health Institute began in 2000 and has educated and treated thousands of patients suffering with pelvic floor disorders, including, but not limited to, overactive bladder (urinary urgency frequency and/or leakage), IC, stress incontinence, pelvic pain, vulvodynia, pelvic floor dysfunction, prostate disorders, bowel disorders (irritable bowel syndrome/IBS), fecal incontinence, and sexual dysfunction.
