Chin Yao Shi, licensed acupuncturist & Chinese herbalogist, PA.
Chin-Yao Shi earned a master's degree in Chinese medicine from the Institute of Acupuncture, Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing in 1981 and a medical doctor (MD) of Western medicine from Bethune University Medical School, China in 1977. She is a former national commissioner of NCCAOM (National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), her term ending in 2004.
Ching-Yao Shi has a double bachground of Oriental and Western medicine. Her career highlights include combining Oriental and Western medicine, and introducing acupuncture and Oriental medicine to the main stream of medicine. She was the first to develop a unique Oriental medicine treatment for Interstitial Cystitis in the United States, and has been involved in research for Interstitial Cystitis (IC)since 1994.
Ching-Yao Shi has developed allergy elimination treatment and Chinese herbal medicine for IC, and also provides treatment for pain management and weight loss. She served as the acupuncture director in the Department of Urology at Graduate Hospital from 1994-2000. Currently her position is medical director of the Acupuncture Medical Practice in Philadelphia.
